Over the past days, we have received several reports from users experiencing severe performance issues on MetaTrader 5 after the latest platform updates. In particular, MT5 may become extremely slow or almost unusable when loading Magic Keys.
After careful investigation, we would like to clarify the situation.
Root cause of the issue
Based on our tests and user feedback, the issue does not appear to be caused by Magic Keys itself.
The problem is related to a recent MetaTrader 5 platform update
The same behavior has been reported with other Expert Advisors and indicators, not only Magic Keys
Magic Keys continues to work correctly on:
Previous MT5 builds
MetaTrader 4 (MT4), where this issue does not occur
cTrader where this issue does not occur
This strongly indicates a platform-level compatibility issue introduced by MetaTrader, rather than a malfunction of Magic Keys.
Current status
MetaQuotes has started rolling out a new MT5 update that addresses this performance problem.
However, this fix is being released gradually, which means it may not yet be available to all users via the standard update channel.
Recommended solution (IMPORTANT)
To receive the fixed version of MetaTrader 5 as soon as possible, we strongly recommend enabling Beta Updates.
You can do this directly from MetaTrader:
Open MetaTrader 5
Go to Help → Updates
Enable Beta Version
Restart the platform and allow it to update
The Beta version contains the latest fixes, including the one resolving the performance issues affecting Magic Keys and other tools.
Temporary workaround
If you are unable to update MT5 immediately:
You may continue using MetaTrader 4 or cTrader, where the issue is not present
Alternatively, you can keep using a previous MT5 build if already installed
Our commitment
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused.
Please note that we are continuing to monitor the issue closely and working to clearly distinguish between Magic Keys behavior and platform related problems.
This investigation has taken time because it required coordination, testing across multiple MT5 builds, and confirmation that the root cause was external to Magic Keys.
We truly appreciate your patience and understanding.
If you continue to experience issues after updating to the latest (Beta) MT5 version, please contact our support team and include:
MT5 build number
Operating system
Magic Keys version
We’ll be happy to assist further.
